Default Torsion Bar question

Question for anyone who has used the torsion bar lift recommended to me by hammer:

I've tightened the bolts evenly on both sides of the truck, but there seems to be a discrepency in ride height. Should be paying attention to the height of the truck as opposed to the even amount of turns?

I would say that there was a good 1/4 difference between the left and right side. I loosened up the left side bolt a whole 1 1/2 turns to compensate but there is still a 1/8 height difference. Is this normal?

They are brand new tires, but im gonna check tire pressure.

any feedback would really help.

thanks

You want your ride height level. You'll have to adjust the bolts accordingly. After you check your tire pressure, measure from the center of your wheel to the bottom of your fender and adjust them until they are even.

Even though I've not done this on my own truck (I got a suspension lift and don't feel I need to), I've helped a couple of guys do it. It has never worked out that the same number of cranks equals the same amount of lift (I'm sure HankLcan give the scientific reason for this). You just have to measure, one side may take eight cranks and the other side may give the same lift height with six.

Drive around some and let us know how the ride feels, some report that it just feels a touch stiffer, while others crank them back down as they report it's too jarring for them.

The ride definately tightened up, but not too much for me. I think i had about 7 turns on the driver side and 8 on the other. It gave me about an1 3/4" lift. A friend of mine also mentioned that the left side could be set higher due to the fact that theres always a driver. I'm not for sure i buy that, but i guess it could make some sense. Overall it helped the stance of the truck greatly. Now if i could just get my body lift in!!!

By the way don't order anything from performancelifts.com. <------sucky service!!

I'm surprised about PerformanceLifts.com, although I've never ordered from them myself, I've read many posts by those who have raving about their prices, service and tech. support. I've cut & pasted as well as providing a link to them for many guys, I may have to rethink that.

I got the bars cranked and a set of LT 285/70R17 BFG AT/KO's installed and the ride was HARSH!

Of course, when I deflated the tires down to 35 psi from the 46-50 psi they were inflated to, it smoothed out a little!

It's still a little bone-jarring if you hit a big pothole, but it looks so much better sitting level! I do think I'm going to install a set of better shocks, though.
