ok well my girlfriends dad as an 03 1500 quad cab short bed hemi. somtimes when he starts it and puts in reverse backs up and then puts it into drive all is power and everything just go to crap. you can punch the gas and the rpms will read around 2200 at max maybe a little higher somtimes. it sounds like its not getting enough air or fuel. but idk i wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. if so let me know asap thanks guys.

 

Sorry sounds like can be either of those problems. I would wait for someone else to chime in.

 

some1 on one of the forums might have been this one suprisingly said they had a similar problem and they had to repace the egr valve... if i recall correctly.... is the a cel on?

 

mine used to do something similar. it would seem like it couldn't go into gear then the engine would just die. I actually reset the computer and it worked or at least it hasnt done it since. do a search on resetting the comp. it has something to do with pulling a pcm fuse.

 

on an 03 1500 i believe it is fuse 19.... you pull the fuse get in the truck put the key into the on position.... wait for the chiming to stop and then click the key as if you are gonna start it (it wont start) wait for two chimes and you are good.... another way to reset the pcm is to leave the battery unplugged for a while (1 hour plus)

 

Yep, mine does that occasionally to.
I believe there was a flash for this.
It's like the whole engine is only running on a few cylinders, or has gone into some kind of "limp mode".
Mine throws no codes.
I usually just switch off, then restart.
That always cures it.
I think it has something to do with those pesky computer gremlins!
This fault usually only manifests itself, when I'm turning at low speeds going from forward, into reverse then back to forward.

Mine did that and it turned out to be the tranny solenoid that kept getting stuck. My CEL light would come though. Until I could get it in the shop I jsut cleared the code with my programmer. Once I got it in the shop and had the solenoid replaced, all was good. Same problem though, my truck was stuck in 3rd gear and would rev up to about 2500 rpms before truck would move.
