Need help with wiring lights behind grill
I bought a cheap set of fog lights to mount behind the grill and have ran into a bit of a snag. The wiring is pretty simple, just a white and black wire for power and ground, i tried to splice into the factory fog lights although for some reason when i try to turn all 4 lights on they flash 3 or 4 times and then turn off. originally i tried before they split off to their respective light and also tried in the middle between the 2 lights. same thing.
should i try to tap into the fuse block wiring or do i need to add in a relay. or as my brother suggested just throw a bigger fuse into the fog light fuse block. any help is appreciated. thanks

Adding a biggerfuse willnot help. If your truck is an 06 or 07... The power distribution center knows how much "draw" is required by the factory fog lights and if it sees more "draw" from the added lights the PDC will shut down that circuit to protect it. You should use a relay.......
You could use the power to the fog lights to power the relay. This would allow both to operate from the same switch without significantly increasing the load on the foglight circuit. However, check your states laws on the number of forward lights allowed on the road before doing this. I know Texas only allows 4: 2 headlights + 2 fog or 2 headlight + 2 high beam. I have mine on a seperate switch in the cab.
