Default IDLE RPM's

I have the 4.7L engine with zero mods. Since day one the truck has idled EXACTLY at 500 RPM while in Drive gear. The observation that I have is that the truck shutters/studders periodically as if wanting to cut out and the only thing I can think of is that the factory idle setting on my truck is too low... BTW truck now has 6000 miles on it and runs great in every other powerband!!!

Can only verify this with yalls input, whats your idle rpm???

I've got a 4.7 with a 5spd so I can't help with idle rpm while in 'drive', but my normal idle rpms are the same as tdmopar59.

Same for me to Bennybone. The truck has not died on me yet but it has come close on a couple occasions because of the low idle. I use to own an '02 dakota with the 3.9L and it died on me more than a few times. Most of the time it woulddie when I backed out of my driveway and stopped to put it in gear to go forward. One person I knew from my previous job had the same exact truck as my current oneand it had died on him a couple times on the intersate when he had to slow down for wrecks and other traffic nightmares.

05 Ram-same exact problem when not running A/C. Dealer says I need throttle body cleaning. Its the least of my problems, I still cant get the thing to stop bouncing at 45-50 mph, worse when decellerating.Tires balanced. Ujoint & shaft check out, they have no clue.
