Default EXHAUST: True Dual vs Single to Dual. HELP!

Any thoughts or information about the pro's and con's of doing a header or stock manifoldback "true" dual exhaust versus a cat back single to dual for a 5.7 HEMI?

How about some specific "real" dual mufflers and pipe size recommended for this engine and maybe a website that puts it all out there?

I would love to hear some input from you guysas I am still considering all options for my exhaust...

Personally, I am running a single in- dual out and I havent had any problems so far. I think that if you run a dual in dual out, you stand the chance of getting a few more horsepower, though I have no clue as that is illegal in CA.

We have ram 2500's no company makes long tube headers for us... there may be a set of shorty's that will work and all custom work from there.... i personally dont think it would be worth the slight gain... you would be just as good if you gutted your cat if you wanted to.... just go with the cat back save your self a ton of money!

Depending on the application, you'd have to rework some stuff. 03's have a single cat, forget where the o2 sensors are, might be a problem as well. Honestly I don't think it is worth it on a 5.7, but maybe a hot 6.1, 392 or Indy 426 would need the breathing capabilities.

if you go headers, get a really good set so they wont leak. Im gonna go single in and single out, no performance difference. True duals would be nice but expensive. Good luck m8

I have true duals with bullet mufflers. The piping is 2 1/4" all the way up. Custom H pipe welded in front of the mufflers. I haven't noticed a huge loss in torque, however at this point it would behoove me to get an intake and tune. It spits out the ol' Hemi fart at WOT between 1st and 2nd.

Thanks for the input...

After having looked at my exhaust closer and considering the small (if any) increase in performace for the large investmant I have decided to stick with my Borla 3"in/dual 2.5" out set up from the cat back. I just contacted the guys we use at CARmax (A1 Muffler)about running the pipes for me and they quoted me $180. That is with my supplying the muffler and chrome tips. I should be up and running in a few weeks once I have my muffler...
