How many miles on your 3.7L ?
'07 (see sig.) Now at 17,2XX miles. Transmission has all but fell out from under the truck, exhaust muffler allready has a hole at the bottom rusted through it, (And I live in the SOUTH!) constant avg. of 17 mpg, tires seem to be wearing out fast, love the power though. I, personally, have NO complaints on the power. Maybe it is just the way mine is set up. OH, and the grill inserts are loose, wind noise is geting worse, starting to feel a shake when I hit the breaks, and the engine makes a weird noise when it first starts up now. Have had the dealer replace the tourqe converter and reflash the PCM. Still slips bad when trying to cruse at 45 mph. This is a $24,631 pile of_____________. (fill in that blank however you feel like it)
Sorry to here you got stuck with a POS but mine also makes a thumping sound during cold start ups I think it piston slap due to the short skirt piston they are useing now of day to try to get better MPG all cars and trucks are going or when to the short skirt piston so unless you change out the pistons you stuck with it.
As for the shake during Braking check you rottors sounds like they could be warped and for the tires I heard the Stock michelins were good tires I dont like them my self I made them change out the ones that were on the truck off the lot they were cracking from day one this is the 2nd set with 25000 miles on them they also are cracking they suck they are dry rotting around the rim bead.
Also bad tires will make the truck ride funny.
As for the muffler I changed my out a while ago with a stock type of muffler a IMCO brand gave it more rummble but not to loud.
As for the truck over all I like the truck but when It' time to get rid of it we will see what I get next I been looking at a Toyota I Know but at least it not undered powered and gets better MPG and Ford comes out with the Kitty Cat motor in 2009 I will take a good hard look at them also BUT NO WAY WILL I GET A GM TRUCK dont like them old ones yes but after 1995or so and newer they can keep them there a story behide that.
Like I said I like the truck as over all just not happy with the 3.7 V-6 I guess I use to having alot more power in a Truck.

I honestly can't complain about my truck because it has yet to give me any serious problems....though! I do really hate the lack of power it has....Normally I'm used to being able to punch the gas and the truck will pick up really quick with a V8....Having a V6 just doesn't have that get up and go sorta ideal. When I heard that the 4.7L V8 gets like 1-2 mpg worse than the v6, I thought to myself, maybe I should have waited and gotten a V8. Oh well, this just means I'll have to save and buy a brand new 5.7L HEMI engine....swap it out.
2002 bot used with 63K now have 77K. Have had zero problems, change the fluids regularly. pulls the bikes and my trailer and lets me sleep in the cab. Im more than happy except gas milage could be little better
Not a Ram, but my wife's 03 Jeep Liberty has the 3.7. We have had it since new and just hit 98,000. So far no problems, its been a great engine and the power is just as good as the day we bought it.
I have the 2007 Ram 1500, short bed, six speed, just turned 15k. Just did another oil change with Mobil 1 5w-30 at 15Kand put an air filter in...using the wix products. Far, far easier oil change than for my wife's new Mazda 3. That needs plastic pulled and special tools, you can do a basic mainenance on the dodge (oil change, air/oil filter, check gear boxes, brake pad thickness, all fluids) without pulling panels, wheelsOR jacking. Goal here is to do maintenance intervals at 5k, at every 5,000 and 10,000 click on the odometer.
Took a LONG time for the motor to break in and get SMOOTH with FULL power...
and certainly, this 3.7 six has far more horsepower on the old 3.7 slant six, with the same truck weight.
When these tires get thin thinking about the Cooper Discover H/T in the 245/70R17 size. Those seam ideal for the uses of this truck, which is 99% paved road driving with SOME limited gravel roads. We do havea very nice gravel driveway, however and I don't need lugged tires just for compacted gravel.
I have a 68 sweptline for field use, like cutting wood.
