Default Dreaded LSD Retaining clip issues AGAIN AGHHHH

OK.

Once again I opened the pumpkin and WHAAAAA some more of the dreaded C clips/retaining clutch pack clips, in the bottom again. [:@][:@]

I looked on the passenger side bearing and there are some grooves cut into the cap, but it's not too bad.

At my last diff oil change I found a complete clip and some bits in the bottom from this same side of the diff.
The one I found today is the other side of the pair.

I rotated the diff by turning the rear wheels and looked on the drivers side of the LSD.
Yep.....you guessed right, both of those clips were starting to work their way out too.

Anyhow, all the bits left in place on both sides of the diff, were easy to get out as the ends of the clips were already snapped off.

What I've now done is remove all these bits from the LSD.
I figured [sm=confused06.gif]that I should take them out rather than let them spin out themselves, causing further damage to the carrier and bearings or getting chewed up in the gears which would be disasterous.

My question to all you Dodge certified mechanics and diff guru's (Slammed1 help ???) is :-

1) Will my LSD clutch packs now fall out/grenade on me?

2) Will I be able to run like this as I have no way of repairing this stuff over here in England.

Help Help HELP[sm=helpout.gif] .........Please [sm=thanx.gif]

well, from how it was explained to me, and this was last week as i got my truck out of the shop, is that as the clip is working its way out it will continue to cut that groove you see cause it is under pressure. it will cut all the way through the housing and your rear end will effectively be cut in half my repair bill was 3400.00 US but it was covered under warranty. it is highly unlikely that your rear end will hold up for any real amount of time without being repaired. id probally say 60,000mi - 100000mi, but probably more towards the front end of that range.

I hate to say it, but if your gonna have to spring for the repair, then you'd be better off with an auburn or detroit locker, then you can forget about this lame design bullsh#t and drive your truck like you stole it without worry!! One of the reasons I went to the 3/4 ton is because of the light duty diffs in the 1/2 tons.
