if you do a search, you will yeild numerous posts about this subject...personally, you get what you pay for...while some have had good luck with this company, I have not...i had one of my truck, and the filter started to rust after only 3 months and the intake made a really annoying whistling sound that some think is cool....i have an AEM Brute Force and would never buy another one of these cheap intakes again...this intake is made of quality materials, has no annoying sound and has better performance then the cheapies IMO

Hey Hemiyellow, is my K&N 77 Series considered a CAI or just a free flowing intake?

where does the filter sit? i've always said that a TRUE CAI will have the filter sitting down some place where it draws in cool air...tucked down, behind the headlight is a good place for example....if the filter just sits out there in open space where the stock filter did thenno, it's just a intake with less restrictions that is drawing in hot air....

Will get a pic but it sort of sits in the same spot as stock. It has weather stripping sealing it to the hood though so I wasn't sure if it was drawing cooler air since it wasn't taking air from the top of the engine.

well here is a couple pics of my setup...you can see the filter sits down behind the headlight where the stock air intake got it's air from:

My grandpa has a 2001 dodge dakota, 4WD with the 4.7L in it. He wanted to try a CAI as well. I wrote the chrome intakes guys and a few others on ebay asking where you plug in the PCV valve suction line at andno one responded. Anyone on here know of where to plug it in on those cheaper $25 intakes?

I ran the K7N 77 series on the ol 4.7 not a bad intake but not in a great spot on the 4.7 it sat beside the engine you want it tucked behind the headlight like hemiyellow said, If I had to do it over I'd spend the money for a good boxed in enclosure with a duct drawing air from the grill, fog light or something at outside temps, that hi temp under the hood air kills the perfomance you just gained by making it less restrictive. Volant makes a good set up IMO and you can run duct away from the hot air... food for thought
