Default offroad setup.

guys, i am looking at starting a project in the near future. i want to build a mud truck. i have asked around, but i want more input. what is the best axle, gear ratio for a 400-500 hp motor and big tires, (44-53) maybe tractor tires too, really heavy.

Default RE: offroad setup.

well certainly couldn't go wrong with some 1.5 ton Rockwell axles ....that big of a tire i would say a 5.13 or higher...

just for a slight comparison...i'm building my ramcharger into a daily driver/mudder/winter vehicle and i'm going to be using axles out of a 77 power wagon (dana 44 front & dana 60 rear),4.88 gears, and a Mopar 360 crate engine (390 HP, 420 ft-lbs out of the box)
