its an engine.... nothing in an engine is clean... ever! theres always build up of dirt.... as far as cleaning it.. its much easier cleaning a little off every once in a while then scrubbing it when its real bad!.. theres a reason for routine maintanance!

I guess what I was getting at was even with my old TBI engines and living on a gravel road in crop land, I didn't have a level of grime build up to alter performance, and is there something specific to these engines that is causing build up?

Is it aftermarket parts allowing more silt and dust into the intake? For instance aftermarket air filters or cold air setups?

I'm by no means new to engines and realize they're inherently dirty, but to affect performance in such a way as some have explained is out of hand.

well aftermarket intakes do tend to let a little bit more through but not much... just think about it thought theres thousands of little explosions going on in your engine every minute.. that gets messy!

I'd be interested in a DIY on the throttle body cleaning and PCV valve change for my '03. Thanks.

I looked at this before I decided to do it. When I took mine off it looked fairly clean until I turned it around, it was caked with black dirt.

I wouldnt bother cleaning the PCV Valve, just replace it. I got mine at Napa for $27 or so, you can also get them at the Dodge Dealer for a few dollars more.

Noticed a big improvement on throttle response and a smoother idle. I will give it a few weeks to see if my MPG improves from 10.1.
Wow, that's not very good MPG with all your mods. Are you a speed freak or was that throttle body packed with ****?!!
