I like the old "unsafe" "manual" cars. First thing to do with a new car is unplug the seat belt sensors, door sensors, gas vapor sensor, etc, don't buy with electric window or locks. And the old dashboards don't disintegrate!

The switch was impossible to disengage so clipped the wires on both doors, taped them off for future soldering in the unlikely event I sell the truck- end of problem. Instrument cluster shows a red lightning bolt symbol with NO CHIME. BONUS-Now I can't kill the battery by failing to tightly close the door at night

I've owned cars since the 60s. I bought hand crank windows, manual locks, manual mirror adjust- same with my 2003. After reading some posts I decided to go for pulling the connectors off the switches, but they were impossible for me to get off so I cut the wires & taped them off. End of problem. A red lightning symbol appeared on the lower right of the instrument cluster. I lifted the battery ground & held the key in "start" for 30 seconds. Reconnected ground and now no symbol, no chime, no door ajar symbol. Thumb wheel works everything. Thanks to all who's posts helped me!

Does the same hold true for the rear doors on the quad? I had to replace the drivers side rear door from junk yard a year ago and the light won't come on.
