The 1500 is gonna give you better gas mileage and a nicer ride. The IFS gives it an almost car like feel on pavement. However, if your gonna tow or lift it for bigger tires, your really gonna want the 2500.
Man i'd hate to ride in a 2500 then...my 1500 single cab 2wd rides worse then my old 99 4x4 silverado.

2500 is same engine. Just sprung better and rides a little rougher....but I personally like them more than the 1500.

I don't have the exact numbers to prove it,
but it looks to me like the added cost of the 2500
more than pays for itself approximately ten years later
in used truck resale value.

Most older 2500 Rams are at least $2000 more on the used market
than older 1500 Rams of comparable shape

the 2500 is a more rare truck than a 1500.... also silent hawk its not just springs its a completely different axle setup....

My personal preference is the 2500 as well. I could say that it's because it's built a bit more sturdy, etc...but really, I just prefer the solid axle and don't mind my truck ridin' like a "truck" That's not to say that I have any issues with 1500's..they are great and in all honesty would have met my needs and been easier on my spine, but I figured I'm payin' for it so I should get what I wanted...

SFA is a HUGE plus!!! I wish I could have found a 2500 with the stuff I wanted.

Echoing SLCHemi's response, I prefer the solid axle, firmer ride 2500 also. I also have equal love for all things Dodge, old and new.
About 3 years ago, when I was thinking of replacing my trusty 87 W150 4x4 with a new Hemi, I initially began looking at the 1500's
but after driving a couple with the IFS, great refined ride and all, I felt something missing. I zeroed in on the 2500 with the tried
and true solid axles. It was the closest as far as suspension goes in comparison to my 87. The bonus, surprisingly, is that my 2500
rides quite a bit nicer than my very trucky 87! Plus I got a Hemi!
