Default Question bout "Turbo's".

Just for conversation sake.
Was watching a show called "Two Guy's Garage" which airs on the "Speed Channel" and they did a segment on Diesel trucks who had "Turbo's" installed. Pretty fascination stuff.
Has anybody had a "Turbo" installed in a regular gas powered truck such as our's? Was it expensive? Was it worth the cost?

Well they dont have a kit for a 4.7 but they do for the hemi. Check out STSturbo.com some pretty cool stuff. I beleive the only forced induction that is available in a kit for the 4.7s is a paxton supercharger. That doesn't mean you couldnt build a kit yourself but it wouldnt be really cheap.

I went to STS's web site and sent them an email asking if they offered one for the 4.7, I got an email back stating they "have a remote turbo system for every application", and a customer rep would be calling to answer any questions I might have. I'll let y'all know how that goes.

Well all teh top diesels come turbo charged stock, was it an aftermarket larger turbo? As for turbos on our hemis, sts makes a good kit and KRC performance has built a few bad *** turboed hemi rams.

I lost a lot of respect for "Two Guys Garage" when they started advertising and endorsing the "Tornado". Before that, I thought they were on the "up and up". After the Tornado endorsement, I kinda tuned them out.

Its all about money and sponsors, shows like that you never really know if your getting their honest opinions, or the wallet filling honesty of the higher ups...

The sts hemi turbo kit (with a smaller turbo unit) will work in a 4.7. They may be able to tell you what size turbo they recommend.

But, you still need tuning.

Do you know whats the lowest number of psi who can run with the sts turbo for the hemi? I was thinking without any real problems I could run maybe 3-4psi for a 50-60HP boost that shouldn't cause any real internalproblems.
