takeoff resonator and/or muffler void warranty?
Long time reader first time poster-
I just got a new 07 Ram 1500 hemi and I wanted to take off the muffler and resonator and run a straight pipe maybe duals out the back or sides, will taking off the muffler and resonator void the warranties? (thinks its 36k and the lifetime drivetrain warranty)
Thanks

I've asked the dealer this before and they said it'll only void the warranty involving the exhaust....before or after the cats depending on how much you replace.
+1,
If you do a cat-back exhaust and let's say your tranny blows up, they must be able to prove that your cat-back exhaust directly caused your tranny to die...

I didn't know it at the time I got my truck, but my dealer actually has a local muffler shop put aftermarket exhausts on some of their trucks on the lot. I doubt it voids the warranty if they're doing it before the truck's even bought...
i had a local muffler shop install my exhaust ( flowmasters with dual outs in front of the passenger rear tire.) My catalytic converter failed about 6 months later and they tried telling me that they werent going to replace it since my exhaust was fully welded on and not bolt on,but the first service writer told me that it would be replaced no matter what.If you remove your resonator it will probably void the warranty because they might use it as an "Emission Control Device". It might void your powertrain warranty and it will void your 8 year 80k mile warranty on your catalytic converter.
I specifically asked my salesman (not that he would know for sure) when I bought my 05 Hemi. He said as long as I did not go in front of the cats or the cats themselves I would not have any issues getting ANY warranty work done.

Better yet.. keep the resonators... you probably won't like the should without them..... I took one off and hated it.... But try it out... different setups.. you'll find one you like... just takes time....

I think i'll just put a chrome tip on for now to amuze myself for a while then later a cat back exhust, i'd sure hate for that to ruin the cat doing that
