Default ABS and brake light on?

I was up in the snow hunting and saw a nice buck. Slamed on the brakes, the truck slides and I could feel the anti lock surging in the pedal. The truck stops and the ABS and parking brake lights are on. I checked the fluid levels and everything seems ok. I hit the brakes again and no anti lock happening. Any ideas bfore I take it in?

I had this happen once with a Chevy. It was a really cold day, and it turned out to be something that fixed itself within 20 minutes.

It almost acted like the plunger or actuator in the antilock unit stuck. Same symptoms though, with the lights on and the antilock stopped working. (brakes worked, just no antilock)

Have the dealer check it, because obviously your antilock doesn't work.

ABS light on simply means the ABS is disabled for a reason. Could be a speed sensor, pump, ect. You will have to have it checked. You do not want to play guessing games with those parts as they are expensive.

It does not hurt to drive with the ABS light on. The brake light on would be bad though.

Just got word from the dealership. ABS module is bad $800.00 also the rear diff is bad $1200.00 The truck is a 2004 3/4 ton Hemi with 24,000 miles. I'm a little concerned about what's next.
