Default Buying extended warranty

I just bought a 2004 Ram 1500 4.7 Quad about a month ago. It has 58,000 on it. I did not buy the warranty from dealer, which was a Suzuki dealership. Now I'm getting several warranty companies wanting me to buy their warranties. I usually keep a vehicle for a long time so is it worth buying? If so,do I useany 3rd party company or try and get one from Dodge? I googled one Dodge site and they said only if under 48,000. Thanks for the help[/align]

Buying an aftermarket warranty, is like buying insurance for breakdowns. I bought my 2002 with 35K, and another $1500 for a 3 year, 36K warranty. I've already used it to have them rebuild the rear axle. That alone would have been a hefty chunk of the cha-ching I put out for the warranty.

I'd be leary about buying warranties from anyone that "sends you stuff" in the mail.. A lot of those companies get their information from public record sites, and solicit people. If the dealership offered an aftermarket company, that makes them somewhat liable, if the company starts to screw you, since they sold it to you. Not only that, the chances of the dealership selling a fly-by-night warranty is a lot less then handing some mail-order company a chek, and then hoping they stand by it.

Call the dealership and see if the offer still stands.

I agree....DC does limit their warranty based on mileage. I was able to get mine due to the original, low mileage, but I remember there was a mileage cut-off.
