Default New guy looking for iPod adapter for '04 with Navigation?

I'm trying to help a friend out. He wants to install an adapter that will let him play and control his iPod thru his stock stereo. He has a '04 Ram 1500 Quad Cab with the RB-4 Navigation head unit. The USA-Spec adapter that Crutchfield offers won't work with the navigation.

I tried asking the parts dept. of the local Dodge dealership if the Mopar adapter would work, but they said no. Only '06 models an newer.

The only other one I could find is a kit called "Axxess" (made by Metra), but requires purchasing the iPod cable and integration harness seperately. I have no idea how well it works and can't even get a clear answer if the iPod can be controlled thru the stereo with this unit.

Is there another adapter that works well with this navigation stereo?

Thanks.

Jerritt,
Thanks for the suggestion. I am familiar with FM modulators, but I've never been too impressed with their sound quality. I guess I should've added to the post that I'm looking for hardwiring options.

Crutchfield sells the Spec-USA unit, and according to them won't work with the Navigation head unit
