Default post catalyst lean code

ok I have pacesetter LT's and an offroad Y-pipe that I have been running for 6+ months now and have had no problems with any codes. I did the 180T and everything has been fine. Last night I was driving down the highway and got a check engine light... when i got home i checked it and it said "Post catalyst system to lean bank 1" I dont remeber the exact codes but i believe it started with P20. Anyways I was wondering if this just means i have an exhaust leak... my Y-pipe exhaust clamps were alittle loose in one place, the odd thing is tho my A/F gauge is reading what it should be.

Do you have cats? That code is nothing to worry about...it just tells you if your cats are working fine. The ones that affect A/F are the front ones.

i dont have any cats, but i have my secondary O2's spaced out so it wont give me a code... could this have happened cause of an exhaust leak?

It should not be because of an exhaust leak, although it is possible. As of right now there is no foolproof method for never getting a code with the cats gone. Reset it and if it comes back very soon then you can check for an exhaust leak. I usually get the post cat codes every 600 miles or so and have to reset.

On a secondary note, a good way to check for an exhaust leak is to tape the end of your tailpipe closed real good and then put a small hole in it and blow some air in there with a compressor. That way it will pressurize the system and you will be able to hear and feel if you have any leaks. You can also spray some soapy water on there to see where the bubbles are.

Hope that helps.

Everyone who omits the cats gets a rear O2 code at some point. Some much more often than others. I have a friend who did the plug fouler trick on his '04 and went about a year without a code, now he gets one every two months or so.
Just clear it when it shows up, it's a very unimportant CEL anyway, the PCM only makes adjustments for front O2 issues...
