Default for those who have larger tires...

im lookin at a pair of 33s that i want to buy. My question is how to recalibrate my speedometer cause it will throw it off. I know it has to do wit a computer thing, but wat exactly is it. The guys at 4 wheel parts told me id have a buy a400 dollar device.my second question is will it throw off the timing or anything like that besides getting worse gas milage? im curious wat u guys have done and if u havent redone it does it make a difference.

You only have to recallibrate the timing if you get bigger rims. If you get bigger tires, say 33" like i did, the guys that did mine said it is completely unnecessary.

The guy was probably talking about supa'chips (superchips in proper english). With that you can change a bunch of crap, especially if you have an auto tranny. I would go to 4lo.com or any tire size calculator online and figure out how much you are off, then try to keep it lower than what your speedometer says. Thats what I do . . try to keep it under 90 HE HE HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA . . . hum.

Hey XxSlientHawl99xXX

It the overall tire Size that thorws you Speedo Off not the Height of the Rim.

But they do make A Speedo Corection recaclabration Box that will fix you'r Speedo beening off do to Oversize tires I think Super Lifts make one and some other after market Company also makes One I think I seen it In the Summit Racing Web Site.

Sorry to tell you you'r tire guy Is wrong.

Lets say 60 MPH you were turnning 2000 RPM's now with larger Tires you be turnning 1800 RPM's do the same speed 60 MPH Even if you'r Speedo saids you only going 55 MPH.

If you were to turn 2000 RPM's you be going Faster than the Speedo saids you'r going Instead of going 60 MPH like the speedo saids you going you doing 65 MPH.

The Speedo gets It's reading from the Tone Ring Thats in you Diff the computer and the tone ring just know whats been programed in to it as in Stock tire Height it can not tell if you have taller tires on it and it can't tell how tall you rims are it is the overall Tire heightO/D that throw things off.

Was able to talk the package down from 1800 to 1400. they dont come in for another week or two but ill def post pics.2 thumbs upto 4 wheel parts they hooked me up.Ive been saving for so long now and next is a light bar for the front with 2 eight inch pro comp lights. Dont think its all for show either, im goin to use it all. More ground clearence for gettin out to the desert with my bike, plus lights wen i go and spend the night. im stoked
