Installing a positraction or Locker system?
Hi all,
[align=left]I have been debaiting since i got my 2004 Dodge Ram. The truck did not come with a posi rear end so i was thinking of having one installed. I would like some options as to which direction i should be facing.

I myself was thinking a locker...
All help is much appreciated.
thanks

Well, the plus is you kinda came out ahead not having a factory one, no c clip issues.
I am looking at the same thing. I decided on a True Trac by Detroit. The other that came Highly reccomended was an Auburn.
Do a search and a ton of stuff will come up. Good Luck.

From the suggestions that I have got from the web site you should go with the Auburn or the Detroit Tru-Trac. NOT a full locker, they are not very streetable at all. A good LSD will be all that you will ever need in a street truck.
I myself want the detriot tru track becuase it gets rid of all the clutch plates and replaces them with gears which is pretty much maintanence free and bullet proof. Im just waiting for mine to blow up.

Crazy if you put a locker in it. Every turn will give you wheel hop and wear tires and components out prematurely. An Auburn Gear LSD or Eaton/Detroit TruTrac would be your best bet. I have heard of some TruTracs coming apart and taking rear ends out with them, but it's rare. They say the plates in an Auburn will wear out over time, but I've had one in a truck for 110,000 miles and it still performed as new, so I don't know how much time "they" are talking.
You really can't go wrong with either. Perfect for a daily driver, whether 2wd or 4wd, a good aftermarket LSD will provide great, equal traction when you need it, and you'd never know it was there when you don't...
