Windshield Defrost ports--Poorly located--what's your thoughts?
So living in Minnesnowta we get used to driving in ice and snow etc. BUT...
My last vehicle (1996 Jeep GC) had defrost ports that aimed directly at the base of the windshield, but in my new '07 Ram they point upwards, and the hot air doesn't hit the glass until above the wiper blades. What this does is it allows ice and snow to accumulate below the blades becaus the glass there is cold, and sit on top of the plastic hood cowl.
The effect of this is the wiper blades get coated in ice, they get frozen down, and gobbed up with ice, and the cowl constantly has an iceberg sitting on top of it after driving a while. (This is after brushing off snow, I'm not that lazy)
In my opinion they screwed up the design on this in three ways;
1. The wiper blades are too high on the glass, allowing a large space to accumulate snow and ice.
2. The defroster ports compared to other vehicles I own are aimed to far up the windshield from the bottom edge.
3. The ports should defrost on both sides of the wiper blades.
What do others think, and does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
