I just got my 08 ram about 3 weeks ago. And since i got it, after you start it up...maybe like 8 seconds later. The truck will thump. Now, i'm not touching the steering or the suspension. Almost sounds like fluid pressure. Seems to be comming from the passenger floor area. Anyone else have this problem??

 

Is your fan for the heater/ac on?? it might be the (how can I explain it) thing that makes the air come out of the dash/defrost moving. I know ocasionally when changing the air flow, sometimes I'll get a little bump noise... but just my $0.02. try starting and turn the fan off. see waht happens...

 

when i got my 07 i had a thump as well but mine would only happen when i drove away so i couldnt find it . I did mention it here and there were a couple of people that had the same thing going on . they said it went away after a little while , so i waited and sure enough i dont ever here it anymore . I have about 6000 km on the truck now and i have not heard it from about 3000 km on .what are the miles on your truck ??

 

I tried the fan thing and it does it with the fan on or off....

Miles are 1500.

Leave it at the dealer overnight and be there with them in the morning to start it and listen. Make sure to have a qualified mechanic (the one who will DO the repair, not just explain it to someone) there who will listen with you. It sounds like the heater/AC plenum possible making the noise. Just my thought’s. Red
