How to make my truck more offroadable
Hey guys. My buddy just bought a jeep and now he's teasing me, that it'll destroy me offroad.. so I need some mods to keep up with him.
I've already got A/T tires, but I may switch to M/T.
I am going to replace the factory LSD with something likea TrueTrac.
I'm putting new shocks all around [Rancho 9000 probably] (Because I need them replaced anyways)
Ive already got metal skid plates on it
and I'm taking off my nerf bars.
One thing I have noticed is that my truck overall seems to sit a lot lower than the new Rams [07] Any clue why? It's an 03.
Any other suggestions to improve offroadability?

Looks like you have the 20 in. rims. I would change to a 17 in and then put the meaty tires on there. It will be a hell of lot better. Check out TD's truck and you will see what I mean.
As TD mentioned, a lift kit, even if it is 3 in would help and be much safer for your underside.
Last thing I would get would be a nice brush gaurd for your front. Don't want to mess up that pretty front end of yours.

Unless you can think of a way to make your wheelbase a hell of a lot shorter, your buddy with the Jeep will smoke you off road.
But, to make you a little more off-road worthy:
Ditch the 20s for 17s so you can add meats that will have some flex.
Go to a suspension lift in the 4-6" range for accomodate those meats.
Brushguards to protect it and a winch for when you get stuck.
A good LSD for the rear end, either a TruTrac or Auburn Gear.
A really aggressive A/T or even a M/T tire if you are not going to use it on pavement much.
Wait a minute, I think I've seen a truck like that. Oh yea, maybe do something like this:

Hammer's right! It would probably be less expensive for you to buy a used jeep to go off roadin' with. But you can tell your buddy you can tow his jeep out to the trails, he certainly wont be able to tow your Ram.
