Default Engine still stalling... Dealer has no clue

A month or so ago I posted that my truck shuts off for no reason and at least one time the dash displayed "no bus". I had it in to the dealer and they reset the CPU but of course since the computer didn't store any codes, they didn't know where to start. The problem appears to be getting worse as yesterday it stalled 3 times in a row. It apparently has something to do with putting gas in the truck because every time it has stalled, it was shortly after filling the tank.

She's going back to the dealer after Christmas but I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for where I can look or direct the dealer to look. I had considered a fuel pressure issue (pump getting clogged by stirring up the crap at the bottom of the tank)but that would most likely light the CEL I would think. I don't believe that there is anything in the rear of the truck other than the fuel pump that could cause the engine to stall but I haven't looked under the truck yet.

Any ideas?

My barber has an 07 with the same issue. They have actually had the dealer replace, under warranty, the trucks CPU about three times now I think. Th e problem still persists for them . They are going to get this one called a "Lemon" and get a new one.

If you are getting a "NoBus" message, the PCM is losing communication. You either have a bad PCM or a wire shorting to ground. "Bus" info is transmitted over a white wire with a violet strip. I have seen these same symptoms on several trucks. I had 2 trucks that drove me crazy. They might run for 2 weeks and then quit. Might crank and run, but if you turned the key off, they might not crank for 2 days, and if they were running, they might quit and may or may not crank back. Each time they wouldn't run, "NoBus" was displayed and they stored no codes. I know this is gonna sound crazy but, remove both sun visors and unplug them and see if it effects the truck. What I found was that at the factory, the sun visor attaching screws had been screwed through the Bus communication wire that runs under the headliner. Is crazy I know but try it. The screw was shorting out the communication and shuting off the truck....If thats not it, look for any white wire with a violet strip and make sure that it is not shorted to the truck.......

Fortunately, mine isn't as crazy as yours yet because the only symptom is the stalling and I only noticed the no bus message the first time. I will check behind the headliner tho just in case.

I'm going to take it to the dealer with very little gas and see if they have a portable diagnostic machine to go along for the ride while I fill the tank. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will stall and be something the scantool picks up.
