Default sub install

does anyone have a step by step install on a sub using a line output convert? Or should I just get a new deck? Im planning on getting a 12" kicker comp sub with a 300watt kicker amp( ya I know its cheap stuff). If I did get the deck it would be the alpine one thats $200.

kicker stuff aint bad at all. what is it a kicker comp or a compvr (cvr). their 300 watt monoblock i've seen come out of the box pushing 450 according to the birthsheet. it's a very good amp and sub. once again u can do it with line outs but IMO using an aftermarket deck with high volt preouts (4v or more) will give you way better sound. for example using line outs you will be using the signal ur factory deck has to tell ur subs what songs to play. obviously not good. everyone knows factory deck is blah. aftermarket deck gives you great clean sound which will give you better results. not to mention the tuning capabiliteis you have with an aftermarket deck to make ur system sound much better. look for a deck that has a 3 band or more parametric eq, 3 preouts front rear and sub with 4volts or more, and a crossover or High pass filter. those are things I consider requirements when using amplifiers and making a good setup

Ok so heres what im goin to do for now, Im just goin to get the alpine CDA-9885 reciever and see how that goes then slowly and I mean very slowly build up my system. In the end, I am planning to replace the front 6x9 with tweeters. (i don't want bass in the doors becuase they rattle plus tweeters richen the sound or so ive heard) the rest of the speakers will be boston acoustics. Then instead of going with a kicker sub sitting on the seat I will get the mtx thunder form with the 2 subs it comes with powered by a kicker 750.1 amp. How does this system sound. Like I said though, im just doing the reciever now they adding everything else over time.

it all sounds good just make sure the rms rating on the thunderforms can stand up to 1000 watts. because that kicker amp will make a 1000 I can gaurantee it. I wouldn't replace the front with just tweeters. serious lack in vocals and mids. which is waht the woofers do on the 6x9's. I suggest making an adapter plate and using a good set of 6.5" coax speakers. or components where the tweeter is seperate. if u do components u need a amp for them as well then. but for now on that head unit a good set of coax 6.5" up front and a good set in back will do just fine running on deck power.

you say u want no bass in the doors. that's exaclty right you don't want bass going to those speakers low frequencies can kill regular speakers. that's why you want a good head unit that has a high pass filter. what this will do is allow you to cut off the bass going to those speakers. right around 100 hz and below. this will allow ur subs to take care of ur lows and ur door speakers to do ur mids and highs. this will allow everything to blend together nicely and have a pleasing sound.
