poor shifting when cold
The past couple of days it has been cold here in the northeast and I seemed to notice my tranny shifts like crap.
If I let the truck sit for a little while, ie overnight or during work, and I start driving it won't shift into overdrive until it is up at operating temps, feels like it just doesn't want to shift. After it finally shifts to overdrive it is fine after that.
I have never had this kinda issue with any other auto I have had (Chevys) and was just wondering if this is normal for these trucks or if it sounds like my tranny needs help.

It's normal. It's a safty feature for the trans, I think it is talked about in the manual. Mine does the same thing it takes about 4-5 miles before I see the RPM's drop as it shifts into overdrive.
Noop..............it's totally normal.
My tranny on my 03 takes like 15 miutes/2-3 miles before the fluid/tranny heats up and she shifts into overdirive.
I look at where the tranny shifts into o/d on my regular way home, to judge how cold it is.
How sad is that???????
Still, after finishing a nightshift, at least I'm seeingpeople going to work, when I'm going home to a nice warm bed ha ha ha.
