Greenish Fluid spots on the Driveway
Hey ... I think that I have the exact same problem ... I can't seem to find out where the leak is coming from. I am thinking at this point maybe power steering fluid. Anyways, let me know if you get it checked out and if you do what it was. Maybe it can help me out ... I am out of warranty.
The dealer is 5.84 miles away, haha. So I have 9-10 miles to play with. The color is what is throwing me off. Let me expain one more key thing perhaps. Last week I checked my oil and there was nothing basically registering on the dipstick. A little on the end. Granted I let it go for 10,000 miles. I put synthetic in it normally. So once I checked it and it was so low I added 4 qts of 5w-20 then it put the oil back in the safe zone on the dipstick. Now this leaking starts. What throws me off is the color of these spots, but maybe mixing the 2 oils makes it looks funny?? Also as obvious as it sounds that it is a oil leak, there was never any spots since this past week. So if there was an oil leak I would of noticed spotting all over the driveway when the old oil was in which I didn't. I checked the oil today and it seems to be in the same general spot as it was when I put the 4qts in. Maybe the oilpan plug seal is slowly rotting or something. Like I said the greenish color is throwing me off. I tried to run a hose over it and it of course had the rainbow colors. What a pain. Thanks by the way for all the comments, great forum to share this stuff with everyone.
If your truck is 4wd, check the front pinion seal. Mine went out a while back, and it was replaced under warranty. If it is that, You definitely want to use the warranty if you can.

Ok well today I was able to look underneath the truck and figured out it is coming from this area. Which looks like the power steering box. There was pooled fluid on the bottom by the large black bolt there and the plastic boot on the left which is attached to the tie rod on the left front wheel. So I am assuming this is the problem. The odd thing is the spots on the driveway are yellowish green and the fluid is redish, but maybe that has something to do with how it mixes in with the blacktop or something. Thats what threw me off in the first place. I did check the power steering container and it is low, low enough where it doesnt read on the little dipstick. So I called the dealer and they said that is covered under the warranty which by the time I get there will have 3 miles left on it. Talk about cutting it close. I will update this once I get it back so other people who might have this problem will know what the problem was exactly.
You likely have two leaks occurring. The green leak is gear lube from the front differential, almost for sure. Check the seals on both ends of the front axle shafts where they enter the solid center part if the differential, as well as the attachment point for the 4WD actuation and also check the pinion seal like others mentioned.
The red around the power steering rack and pinion that you showed in the photo is likely leakage out of something in the power steering system, current Dodge power steering pumps use ATF +4 tranny fluid.
Follow the green leak around things it leaks down onto, it will dry out some and feel sticky. It's easiest to see on the bare aluminum components like your rack and pinion and 4WD actuator etc.
