i want to take off my stock 20s and put on 17s but i was told by two different tire dealers they would not fit over brakes. one dealer said he would try the 18s but not 17s but then one other said the 17s would fit. so im confused over what to order anybody who has done this i would love to hear. thanks

 

The 17's will fit on the 3rd gen dodges.

 

Well i have been goin threw the same thing so i know where your comin form... I was told the same BS and thats exactlywhat it is... All of them have the same size brake calliper except for the SRT-10... Im in the process of doin the same but waitin to decide on which wheels i want..

When I used to have my 1500 ram, I used to have my 17's for winter and my 20's for summer. The 17's come stock on the rams when you don't get the 20's. So it seems that these tire shops are worthless and ***holes since they have no clue what they are talking about, I hate punks like that, making a living on selling things they have no f**kin clue about and not taking the time to get informed, incompetent SOB's.

17's are the smallest you can go on the rams.

 

I went with BFG AT KO 285/70-17's and am glad I did with all the snow we've been getting here. Not much choice in the 20's for a more aggressive tire. Anyhting is an improvement over the stock Goodyear HP's that came with it.

 

Yea thats how i found out the answer... I called a Dodge dealer and they told me that the trucks with factory 20's had bigger callipers... Then the next day i talked to the parts department and told them i needed a price on callipers for the 20" wheel truck and he said, " It dont matter the 20" wheel is just an option the callipers are all the same"..... lol... Those idiots..

 

i have an 03 dodge that came with the 20s and i just bought a set of factory 17" steel dodge rims and they fit theres not tons of room between the caliper and rim but that definatly fit with no problems. no i just found a set of 20" detata rims that are black with a chrome ring around the out side and i put on 285/60/R20 BFGAll Terrains. so if anyone wantssome stock 20s for the 03 dodge i got some for sale.

 

Well.. I Wouldn't Mind 20s I Have The 17s on My 05' Just Gettin' bored With Them and Still Havent Found Rims That I Would Drop For. So If For Some Odd Reason Someone Wants My 17s I'd Sell Them Just To Get Myself To Get Something New.. 17" BFGs Are Expensive and Thats All I Buy.
