05 QC Questions??
ok so i think i have my finance talked into getting a truck and all. She kinda has an eye on a 2005 Quad Cab big horn edition with a HEMI and 17's and 52k on it. its white with all black interior. the dealer is asking 14900 for it. im curious is this a good price for one with the miles? is there anything i should look for on the 05? any kinda problems i should be aware of or look for?? any help would be kool. thanks guys
A quick scan of the dealer ads in my local paper today shows two similar 4x2s, an '05 w/Thunder Road package in excellent condition with 59k miles for $12,495 and an '05 w/Thunder Road package with 26k miles at a different dealer for $14,750. These are advertised prices and could probably be negotiated down a bit. So there price is not out of line to start a negotiation on, but I'd try to could get them down to upper $12's to lower $13's and jump on it...
If that's an advertised or beginning price they should have a good bit of room to move on the price, I just bought a '02 Grand Cherokee Overland to use as a daily driver and the advertised price was $14,900 and they showed a KBB retail of $16,750 in the ad. After a good hour of negotiation I got them to close on $11,250 and I had them throw in athreemonth, 3000 mile bumper to bumper warranty to boot (I also got the remainder of the 7/70 powertrain for a $50 transfer fee as it had 61k on it). Just make them think, no matter how bad she may want it, that if you don't get the deal you are looking for, you'll just walk away and look elswhere.
The only things to be wary of in the 05s would be door seals (look for any sign of water stains on the headliner around the door tops and if it has a stock limited slip it will be prone to the dreaded "C-Clip" issue. Other than that, if it has been well maintained, it should give her years of good service...
