I purchased my 2007 Dodge Ram on August 3rd and have apprx 14000 miles on it already. I love it and am addicted to driving it - even though I have a hyuandi for the longer trips (to save my truck and gas).

the truck as had 4 oil changes on it already and the tires rotated twice - just like the manual says.

The dealership is also a ford dealership and uses motorcraft engine oil - they say its fine and use it all the time. I could get mopar for another 20 bucks or something else (synthetics etc) for more.
(another dodge dealership uses valvoline)

Any suggestions - I like to try and change it every 3k-4k miles.

Should I use synthetic?
MotorCraft?
Mopar?
(keeping in mind I want to take good care of her and keep up with the warranty)
(does it really make a difference)

 

their using MC 5w20 semi synthetic
its good stuff for the price

Motorcraft is a semi synthetic no worse than any other brand and will NOT affect your warranty.I personally use Mobil 1

 

its no worse than mopars oil, maybe a bit better(not sure if mopar uses a semi synthetic as standard). I agree, go with mobil 1, thats whats going in mine on her next oil change.

 

how do y'all feel about castrol syntec? that is what i've been using.

 

never been a fan of castrol, dont know why but i just havent lol.....personally, i always used Mobil 1 in my vehicles but i have recently switched over to Amsoil and havent looked back lol.....if it was me, i'd switch over to Mobil 1
