Window Tint
I live in TX and want to get my front door windows tinted. I have been told that I won't be able to get an exact match as I can't go dark enough legally to match the back doors. Does anyone in TX have any pictures showing this? And are you happy with the result? Also, If I have a strip put across the top of the windshield, how does it look with the "dots" on the window or can the easily be removed?
Thanks everyone!
Thanks everyone!
I had my tint done on my fronts also. I had them "match" the back and rear window tint... But you have to remember that the tint in the rear is a stain, not a film. Its directly in the glass, rather than a layer over it. It does not have the UV properties, etc that real "tint" film has. So mine do not match perfectly but they are very close. However, I am technically illegal because as you said, the rears are a tad too dark. But I have not been stopped yet for it... mainly because its not Limo tint to be honest. I dont think cops bother trucks as much as little rice burners either, those are more associated with punk kids. It is up to you, but all I can say is my truck looks very nice with the tint matched all around. I can post some pics if you would like to see it for yourself.
Also as a side note, man does the real UV protective tint make a difference! Being in Arizona I am used to the heat... but after I got the tint put on my 2 fronts, when the sun is shining I cant feel the sun through the glass like I used to be able to. I dont feel like I am getting sunburned through my windows anymore! haha
P.S.- the pic in my sig was taken before the tint was done.

In reference to the strip across the top of the windshield I dont know how it will look with the "dots" because in every vehicle that i have put a strip on i honestly have not noticed the dots but i will say that the strip is well worth it in my opinion esp. when your driving into the sun.
and as far as the legallity of the tint darkness..."pcollins" is right, law enforcement does not bother big trucks as much as rice burners and battle wagons. but that is going to depend on the area you live in...some depts will write anything whereas other depts are too busy to bother with window tint (its usually just a reason to pull you over to find other things...just be nice to the cop!)
