is it possible?
thats a damn shame, dodge needs to start putting better trannies in these trucks. i feel so restricted with this automatic. the gears are so long and boring and it just sounds monotonous. think the hemi ram would be much quicker and fun to drive if it was a five speed. what transmission would you even match to that engine?
yea it's rather sad. honestly though all manual loving guys now that the 4.7L is bumped up to 310 hp I see no downfall with moving down to the smaller engine to get teh six speed.
I agree I wouldn't have a problem driving aauto but the 545rfe isa PIECE OF EVER LOVING GARBAGE I don't see the point in buying a truck that you know ur gonna have to put a new tranny in at around 75-100k.

Max00racer,
Back in the 60's and 70's it was done quite often before you could get specialized vechicles right off the showroom floor. This is assuming you can do the work yourself (and you want to). Find a donor vehicle, in your case a gen 3 wrecked 2500 with the hemi/manual combination. Now you have most of the parts, wiring, mounts and so on. While you are at it, replace the rear end from the 2500 since it's stronger. My opinion, find a 2500 you like and trade up. As a bonus, you get a 4 in lift.
