3rd Gen Viper matched with a NV4500?
I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab with the NV4500 with the Hemi. I am interested in if anyone or knows of anyone that has put a Viper engine into a truck and has the total cost except labor. I dont know if I will have to make a plate to make the engine mate to the transmission. Any info would be greatly appreciated on this subject of the engine and transmission. The end product of what I would like to do is drop in a Gen III Viper engine and keep the NV4500.
Thanks
Thanks
People dont really drop those engines in the trucks... they buy an SRT-10... the labor and everything else you would have to pay.. isnt really worth it..
I would be doing the swap myself. I am just wanting to put a viper in a 2500 because its a great riding truck with a KORE Chase system and 35 Toyos put it could use some extra get up that the Hemi doesnt have anymore. When I yank the Hemi out it will be going into another project. I was just wanting to see if anyone had done this before, otherwise I will just have to start from scratch pretty much like we do everything else. We wouldnt have a problem designing mounts for everything.
Thanks
Thanks
I would leave the NV4500 and put in a diesel transfer case to handle the extra power. The rear end is a AAM 10.5 and it should handle the power, but if it didnt I would just swap it out with a AAM 11.5 rear end out from a diesel as well. I think there would be more than enough room for the cooling system. I am asking the questions because you all are more familiar with the viper engine, tranny, and cooling issues. We have been building and racing Dodge Ram 2500's in the Baja 1000 for the past two years but they are the diesel but we know our way around the Dodge platform pretty well for building and designing mounts and such
I've never heard of the 6.4 Hemi. I heard of the 6.1 Hemi with 425 hp at the flywheel. Just the fact of building this I think would be a good project with the Viper engine. In your opinion which generation of the viper engine would be the best and most reliable.
