Default Solid axle swap for 06 1500???

Does anyone know if there is a solid axle swap for the 1500? I would love to beef up the front end of my truck some but I know that the bigger the tire the weaker my IFS gets. Any ideas????

One solution, trade for a 2500... And do it before you spend a ton on mods and dozens of hours on installing them, like I did. I'm kinda stuck, not that I don't love my truck, for what I do a half ton is more than sufficient, and my last Dodge was a '98 1500 that had a front axle, so when I got this one, I just got another 1500, without giving much thought about the change in the front end. But hanging with a bunch of redneck off road nuts, I saw a trend, and that was a huge majority of the guys who have front end problems, like brake out on the trail problems are IFS trucks with major lifts and tires. The IFS guys with 33-35" tires and the solid axle guys with the bigger tires seem to be somewhat immune to these issues. My advice, if you are thinking 37"+ tires for anything more than impressing the chickies driving down main street, then trade up for a2500, it'll cost a lot less than any kind of conversion and fabrication to a solid axle...

find a wrecked 2500 and get the solid axel off of it nad try to keep the mounting hardware and steerign componets from it so you can do it up right

I don't know for certain, but would have to guess that there are other differences between the 3/4 ton and the 1/2 ton that'd make a junk yard swap more of a challenge than it's worth. Things like the frame and how the suspension actually mounts up...just glancing at pictures it looks different, but I don't have a 1/2 ton so that's all just speculation.

I personaly think Hammer's advice is best - just trad 'er in for a 2500. You'd probably end up saving a buck or two along with some sanity. Save the difference and spend it on other cool stuff for off-roading like a lift, shocks, a winch, etc....

Well to be honest 35" are as big as I will ever go on my 1500. IMO anything over 37" is getting to be over kill anyway I am not into the mud boggin so as long as I have some desent ground clearance I will be happy. I guess I was just attempting to keep my options open more than anything. I would love to have a 2500 with CTD but thats a little more money than I am willing to spend seeing as though my truck is only a 2006.
