The truck has the 5.9L V8, no water damage (unless it was covered very well), and has 130K miles on it. The carfax says that it had front axle repair in 2005...could be what hemiyellow was talking about...

possibly.... As long as it was well maintained it should be a good truck... what does he plan on using the truck for?

As far as I know it has been maintained pretty well...Dad said no leaks anywhere, 4WD sounds good, cruises well on the interstate. I also think I have him talked into using a good synthetic oil, too. To answer your question, though, he will just be driving the truck pretty much. No towing, off-roading, etc. My Mom only works like 5 miles away, so she'll probably drive it to work, while my Dad will take her Vitara for his 25 mile drive to work. He said it seems very solid and the steering was very tight and responsive.

My '02 only has 30,000 miles on it, but its more reliable than my mom's '06BMW 530xi and my dad's '06 Duramax Silverado and '07 Powerstroke F-350 (which all have around the same mileage). Of all the vehicles I mentioned, the Ram was the only one that never had a serious problem. Only things that have gone wrong with it are the current exhaust leak (which is from my own stupidity), squealing breaks, and theres quite a bit of rust underneath (because it sat for 4 years near the beach before I bought it)

Sounds like a pretty good deal. I got my '02 5.9L with 119,000 on it for $11,500, it had a bunch of cool stuff already done to it, so that price sounds good. Just watch out for the dealers who seem a little desperate to move certainvehicles.

Well, this guy doesn't seem very pushy with my Dad. He's gone down on two separate occasions and driven it. He hasn't experienced any problems, seen any leaks, etc. He also checked out the 4WD, and all is well there. I think it is a pretty solid truck.

I have an '02 Ram w/ a 4.7

So far I've had to replace the radiator at 67,000 miles ($173 for parts) theheater core at 60,000 miles($900) A/C condenser fan at 54,000 miles ($200+ if I remember right for parts), cracked front dash cover ($146/ part)and I just got a recall notice forthe ignition/park shift interlock - Recall G28(warranty). The remote lock actuators for the rear doors is not working currently and the windows can only be rolled down from the drivers panel...other than that this truck is perfect...lol

Dang, that sucks. This one is already at 130K, so maybe it's past that point. Did you get yours new? That sounds like a semi-lemon.
