Code Question
My Mom has an 04 hemi ram 1500, she is throwing code P2317-IGNITION COIL 6 SECONDARY CIRCUIT- INSUFFICIENT IONIZATION - 5.7/SRT8. Does the coil need to be replaced? what does it mean?
These are the possible causes of that code, but I would think that the coil is the first thing to try..
(K342) ASD RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT
COIL ON PLUG RESISTANCE
IGNITION COIL
COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
PCM

I was on my way to North Carolina from Ohio on the 19th, 3 hours in my computer threw out P2317 and P2323 on my 2004 Dodoge Durago Hemi. I did the quick check with the on-off-on-off-on and googled the codes. Mine was Cyl 6 and 8. I pulled the battery, stepped on the brake pedal to drain the system and reattached. Drove another 9 or so hours no issue. I figure it just wasn't giving enough power to those coils and threw the code. So far so good...
I read mine on the odometer, you turn igntion on-off-on-off-on and it will read the codes and display if check engine light is on. Code p2323 Cyl8 lit up again 560 miles later on the ride home. This time I let it go, it disappeared on its own. I am not ready to change out the coil yet. Maybe there is a high performance upgrade out here?
