Hey guys, just wondering what kind of oil you use preferably to the ones with the 4.7? Synthetic a good choice or shall I just use regular oil? I have 42k.....Just wondering what yall use!

 

Ive run synthetic since the first oil change, tried a few different ones (castral syntec, Mobil 1, Amsoil) the Amsoil keeps my motor quietest longest. when I changed my oil last I was using the 7500 mile XL 5w-30 and had 8167 miles on it and sent out an oil sample. the results came back that all was good and to keep running it and take another sample in 3k miles lol. too bad I already changed it.

 

I am going to try Royal Purple 5/20 in our 08 PWagon. Conventional oil at 1000m and 2000m. The RP goes in at 3000m. I am concerned about the filters though. For now I am sticking with Mopar as th oil holes are much bigger than the P2 fram the stores sell for replacement.

 

M1 in all my rides. I also go 5K on a M1 oil change to make up for the cost difference. I have considered trying RP in my daily driver.

I use to run all sorts of filters but recently went to all mopar.

 

Mobil 1 and nothing else. Since the first oil change.

 

I used RP 5W20 in my 05 Hemi and quit after 2 consecutive bad used oil analyses (UOAs). Copper wear shot up to 2x my normal level. Iron wear was also higher. Switched back to M1 5W20 for a 5,500 mi trip and Cu & Fe wear immediately returned to normal. Also had mediore results with RP 5W30 in my Toyota Highlander. No change in MPG from other oils. Nowadays, using whatever syn I can get on sale--QS Torque Power, Valvoline Synpower, QS Full Syn. At $7/qt, RP is just to pricey for the performance.
