Default offset question?

can anyone tell me which offset will fit the rams better as far as aftermarket wheels go. negative or positve. I know negs will stick out a little farthet than pos but i heard that to make sure they fit the dodges you should go with a neg offset. Is this true?

Well, I'd guess the backspacing will play into this. Less backspace would allow more negative offset. Too much negative offset will affect the wheel bearings, since the center of force on the wheel is moved outboard of the hub. I would further think that a small bit of negative offset will help the handling by increasing the track. Too much positive offset will have some effect, but I don't know what -- steering and alignment? My Dick Cepek DC-1s are 17x9 with 4.53" backspace and -12 mm offset.

My Mickey Thompson Classic II's are very similar to the Cepek's (no surprise as they are really the same company) with 4.5" backspace and -12 offset. Perfect for me, as my 35x12.5 tires are about 1" outside the tire wells...
