Default LED taillight question

HiGuys,

Been a while since I visited this forum but was thinking about working on my taillights on my '05 Hemi QC and was wondering if anyone has ever swapped in LED 'bulbs' for their standard taillight bulbs? I want to keep the stock taillight appearance but use LED bulbs. Has anyone done this? Do you like it? How does it look? Are they bright enough?

I know about the load resistor issue as I have been using amber LED bulbs with load resistors in the front parking/blinker lights for about 2 years now with no problems.

Any help would be great!

Were the taillights completely replaced or were LED bulb added to the original housings?

Taillights were modified to accept leds. I may still have the housings, because we replaced them with regular taillights before we sold it. Will see if I still have them and send you pics of how the housings were cut to allow led's. If I still have them, can make you a sweet deal on them so you don't have to cut your originals.....

I imagine those "spider-lites" would work really well in our housings, I was thinking of picking up a set for my tails, since I have an '08, I think it'd look kinda neat inside the round housing.

I tried the bulbs, not the whole housing and ended up returning them because they were terrible! they werent as bright as true LED's. they were alright i suppose but there was no reflection in the lens of the housing, didnt put off enough light for my taste. also the bulbs are like $8-$10 a piece, there being 6 lights thats $60, you can get the whole new housing for another 40

I bought a couple of LED "bulbs", but wound up getting the complete assembly. Glad I did, I like the look.

mike: what tailights did you get? i saw some altezza tail lights that were red LEDs with black housing. they were 2 parts, with a reverse light in the middle. I like these because i like having a seperate blinker from the brake light, like the stock tail lights have just oem. well atleast i think the tail light works like that, if anyone knows please let me know.
