Is there a reason for a big and a small muffler? My 04’ stock muffler has one. Anyone knows Y[sm=confused06.gif]

 

are you sure its a muffler and not a ctalytic converter?

 

LOL, wanna be really confused? Look under an '06, we have a ctalytic converter, a resonator, a large muffler, and then either another resonator or small muffler!! I had them cutt everything out but the cat and install my flowmaster super 40.

 

The big one closest to the transmission is the muffler. The little one closer to the tailpipe is a resonator. I believe its just there for more sound control, but you dont need it. I had mine cut off when I had my muffler replaced.

I have an 04 also, it just had one resonator. I've heard some people say they have 2.

Yup, the muffler is the much bigger one closer to the tranny and the smaller one(s) is your resonator. The one up by the headers would be your cat. My '07 only had 1 resonator. So they had 1 prior to '06, 2 in '06, and then went back to 1?
