Default 05 w/ 4.7 - Oil pressure guage flakey

I have been having an issue with my oil pressure guage not reading when I first start the truck. If I shut it off and then right back on, it will read fine. Today, it started to drop off after the truck had been running for a while. The engine does not make any odd noises like there really isn't any oil pressure. It almost acts like a bad electrical connection (I hope). Has anyone seen or heard of this problem before? I just found this site and I figured it would be a good place to start.

I have put alot of oil pressure sending units in the Jeeps with the 4.7l. I was under my truck the other day and it is the same sensor so I would guess they have the same problem also. It sits just above the oil filter in case you were wondering.

Thank you. I will check the wiring to it before it goes to the dealer. If it's that close to the filter, maybe the boys at Jiffy Lube knocked it loose! Thanks agian.

Anyone know if the oil pressure sensor is in the same location on the 3.7L engine? I have a 04 dakota with the 3.7L and the same problem. Every morning when I start the truck the gauge doesn't move and the light is on. I drive for about 5 minutes, shut the truck off and when I turn it back on it's fine. Also, will I need a special wrench for the removal and install? Thanks in advance for the help.

Matt
