Back up lights; Locations, Types, Why?
I have seen and had many different types of back up lights. Lost some in snowbanks, off road, sand dunes and backing over that object that was a little too high,. Some that mount on the hitch are not permanent, some hang too low.
What have you got, where are they mounted, why and are you pleased?KC, PIAA, White Night, TSC?????
This is what I finally ended up with and didn't think about it until the recent post that also wrote about cargo bed lights.

PIAA 1500 Back up Lights. WHY: Three poleswitch; on, off and reverse. They areback up so they are widebeams. With the high mount it allows me to see in the bed of the truck and over the rails and tailgate if I am towing and want to check on anything while backing. I can work out of the bed to get at toys/tools.I can't back them into anything without being an idiot and hopefully they will last. I have realligned them since I took the photo.

I Am Going With The Recon LEDs. Todd's Getting Back To Me, They Are Thinkin' About Producting This As Part of Their Product Line.
It Would Be Two LEDs Strung Together With A 5ft Power/ground Whip To Attach To The Backup Lamps. They Would Mount on The Hitch Assembly on The Bar That Runs Parallell To The Bumper.
But I Have Been Pondering This Idea For The Whole Weekend and As Always, See Pros and Cons With The Set Up.
Pro's:
[ul][*] Small LED's Moutning Flush[*] Not Bulky, Less Chance of Hanging Up on Snow, orWhile Offroading.[*] With Backup Camera, Wouldn't Create Light Blur [*] Easy Install
[/ul]
Con's:
[ul][*] Unless Wire Was Ran To Cab, Would OnlyWork In Reverse.[*] LED's Are Not As Bright as Fog Lamps.
[/ul]
In My Application The Pro's Heavily Outweight The Cons.. As Soon As I Hear Back on Wensday I Will Hopefully Be Gettin' Mine With The Truck Bed Rail Lights..
So If You Guys are Thinkin' That Set Up Is an Option I Will Be The Guinea Pig.
Mopar74 - I Like Your Rack Mounted Lights More Than This Idea... ButFor Those ThatDon't Have A Bed Rack, and WhoDon't Have The Need For One... That Wont Work.

I have just a cheap pair from autozone. I've been very pleased so far. I did run a wires to the cab so I can switch them on without being in reverse. Idon't have a rack on my truck, so I had to go elsewhere. There pretty small, so I would have to get pretty close to my bumper.
