Default muffler rusting

I have a flowmaster 50 series muffler on my truck and it is rusting all along the welds on the case. i've had it for less than two years. anyone think it's worth it for me to complain to flowmaster?

I dont really want to send my whole exhaust back. maybe they would refund the cost of the muffler and I could replace it with a super 44. I think I would paint it in high temp paint before installing though.

the super 44 is already painted black. do you think this will protect it from rust. if not i might paint it. I am going to email flowmaster. it might take a few days to sort this out. I'll let you know what happens.

Called Flowmaster today. I have a three year warranty. Told them about my problem. Guy on the phone sounded like he couldn't give less of a sh*t. Unless it is rusted through or leaking they won't replace it. He said I have to go to Jegs (where I ordered it from) and if they think it is worthwhile they'll send it back. Sounds like flowmaster knows about this problem and doesn't care.

rustoleum 1200 degree fusion paint.... i used it on my polaris 680 tripple header 5 years ago.... once the exhaust system heats up it fuses the paint to the metal....tough ****.... I would recomend using this on anything that gets hot that you dont want to rust....

I'll look into that paint. But I might just replace the muffler with a super 44 anyways. Do you think it would be a good idea to paint the new muffler before install?
