Default Diff shot

I was changing the rear end gear oil the otherdayand low and behold sitting on top of the magnet in the bottom, is a 1/4" peice from one of my lsd diff clutch pack clip. Yeah me!! Luckily their wasn't any other visible damage. Who knows how long it's been sitting there. I could tell that cover had been off before.Gotta order me up a detroit true track and some new4.56 gears. (might as well replace the 3.92since it's all opened up anyway). I'll give an update in a few weeks when it gets done. Good thing I kept my little crapolier around. I won't have to worry about rental.

Good thing you found it in that setting rather than finding it going 65 down the highway.

Ya, that was a definate plus. I'd be changing a lot more if that happened. I was going to do a diff change eventually. I was hoping to get a little more time out of it because I still have cams to install. Then again with the power gains it's probably better to do it now, rather than blowing something outblowing my girls mustang off theline

Isn't it standard practice to replace the clip if you find it before damage has occurred?

The trick would actually be to replace the clips before they break. Since mines already shot I'm going to replace the entire diff instead of havingthe factory one repaired. Besides I'll be putting a better operating unit in too and with the gearing I should be able to take my girls mustang off the line
