My truck is my truck, don't ask to borrow period! I run my truck with the rule you buy I fly.

If take a road trip, mine is really accurate on the highway. In town it is always at least 2 mpg off. In the winter it is really off because it reads while you idle etc.

Not to mention that in the winter the gas mixture is different than in summer so the mileage goed down in winter anyway, at least in the colder states.

Mine is ritualistically two to three miles higher than hand calculated mileage.

my overhead lies, and it isn't even consistant. A couple weeks ago I hand calculated a 11.8mpg average for that tank, the overhead read 10.2, then the last fill up was 14.3mpg and the overhead read 15.1

I would have the same question. Mine's pretty damn accurate. I only checked it the first 3 or 4 times and it was almost spot on.

I reset it a lot. I have never actually compared it to a hand calculation over an entire tank.

ORIGINAL: StevenMoffettKY

I only use mine for the temperature
+1 & direction headed since I suck a direction.

My MPG'sshow 2-4 MPG's lower on the overhead display than I calculate when I fill up. I reset mine every fill up.

Mine is usually .3-.5 or so off, on the pessimistic side. So it works for me, I look at it and if it says I'm getting 11.9 I'm usually getting closer to 12.3.
