Pulling Boat
I have a 04 V6 and I am about to buy a 22ft boat. I know the V6 is a little under powered but I was just wondering if I would have any problems pulling the boat out of the water at the ramp. The dry weight isaround 3400lbs. The only after market products I have is exhuast, shouldI get a new air intake before pulling the boat? I dont have to drive far to put the boat in the water just about 3 miles.
thanks
thanks
shouldnt have any problem, i had a f150, extended cab, way under powered, it was a manual, pulled a 16ft with no problem, is ur truck an auto or manual, if its auto, just put it in 1st gear, give it gas while ur foot is on ur brake so u dont roll back, if u roll back you might freak out and punch it and u dont want that, but you should be fine
To be safe, consider a towbar or trailer tongue extension to get the pickup further away from the slick waters edge. Back up like normal, then detach the trailer, couple the towbar and back in / out. If you have a 4x4 with low range you are in better shape but just getting the truck onto a less slick surface makes a big difference. This technique is particularly advisable at unfamiliar ramps which may be steeper or slicker that the local one that you are familiar with. I should know, I launched my 16 ft boat for nealy 2 years using my Chevy Cobalt. Hardly any ground clearance, minimal power and sure as hell no low range or awd.....
ona my friends has a toyota tacoma and he hauls around his boat when he goes to his lake house....the weight of that truck is like half of ours (his has like 220hp)....but yea ur prob fine....if a small truck can do it i dont see y a full size truck couldnt do it
