Default Lifting

ok i was goin to go 9 inches on my 06 ram but now i am thinking of doin the 2.5 inch leveling kit with a 3 inch body lift. Now my questions are how bad is a body lift on my truck(06 ram 1500 auto trans 4x4 on the **** hemi)? and what size tires could i clear with 18 inch rims that im using with the leveling kit and body lift thanks

I have the leveling kit on my 1500 and next weekend i am putting on the 3 in body lift i have been shoping around for tires and rims everyone has said that 18" rims are the smallest you can go and 35" tires are the biggest you can go.

17" Rims will clear the brakes, And I BELIEVE you can fit 35's with the leveing kit, but they will rub from what i hear.

Good call on ditching the 9" lift plans, your IFS front end wouldn't handle it for long and you'd be seeing your truck on the back of a flatbed not too far down the road.
35's would fit quite nicely on a leveled truck with a 3" body lift. The truck would look very good, but if a lot of off-roading is in your future and you could afford it, a suspension lift would give you an infinitely better ride off the pavemant.

2003 Dodge Ram: 35s are the biggest you could clear, but 17's would also work. I don't know where this thing about needing 18" wheels to clear the calipers started, but standard on Dodge 1500 trucks is still 17". There is nothing wrong with running 18's but I run 17" Mickey Thompson wheels, and every guy in my hunting club I can think of with a Dodge 4x4 (maybe six or seven guys) all run 17" wheels for maximum flex/floatation off road...

If you plan of offroading the truck, its going to be a very bumpy ride!! I was thinking about doing the same thing with the leveling kit and the body lift, i installed the leveling kit, and the truck is very stiff in the front, but it looks good!
