But how does it mount? I need to know becuase it'd have to be fully custom for my 03. I really need to know if the radio can be "surface mounted" instead of the OEM-style "flush mount".

The HU mounts directly in the install kit. You don't use the metal cage that comes with the HU. The kit has a side bracket on each side and you screw through the side bracket into the HU with the screws that come with your HU. Now your radio and install kit are 1 piece. The kit has a mount on each side exactly like your factory radio and the whole new unit just screws into the dash the same way the old one came out.

John M - I dont know if a 7in screen is going to fit in your dash. You might have to go with a flip out unit. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Great add to the truck and it sounds fairly easy to install. I'll have to check Crutchfields web site out!

i found that ebay listing too, the only catch is that he is charging $36 to ship it and dodge sells it for $120, so you arent saving any $$$ and I had it next day from dodge.

I know this is an old thread but that Nav panel is now 231.00 from all the sellers on the net, 335 from Dodge OEM

Weedahoe- what do you charge to modify the radio panel in an 05 Ram for a double din?
