Default Removing door panel for speakers

Do I really need to buy those tools they recomend for removing the door panel? I heard the thing they use to remove the window crank isent reaslly worth it because it scratches the plastic. Also do I need an installation kit to install the new speakers? Like wire connectors or anything?

No, i just did it with no special tool to install the mirror.

Take the screw out of the upper corner, use a torx or socket to take off the door handle. take the two screws out of the bottom of the door. Pull the top of the door towards you, unplug the window/lock/mirror controls. Grab the grab handle and pull straight up and out, you might have to finesse the door lock pin a little, and viola. door is off.

Oh, please be careful with doing this. I thought I knew everything and installed the speakers no problem...right? Until a couple weeks later the passenger handle popped off somehow. I tried several different fixes until I realized that the screw AND the metal on the door that holds the handle on were both stripped. Just be careful, thats my 2 cents.

i recommend buying the door panel removal tool. its only about $5-10.
for the crank, bend a short 1/8" 90* bend on the end of a stiff wire or coat hanger. hook the clip and give it a tug.

Things have changed between the 2nd and 3rd gens. You really dont need any special tools for this. I was told this by the dealer, and by doing it myself. (well, unless you count a torx as special)

there is a screw behind the handle, and one that holds the handle on.

yea, i would buy the tool for the window crank, its easier to take out and easier to install with the right tool. other than that its so easy to remove, you can do it blindfolded.
