Default What's the difference

I am looking into getting a new set of shoes and rims for my truck and I want to know the difference between 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern and 5 on 139.7 bolt pattern. I have seen both listed as the correct bolt pattern for a Ram 1500.Thanks in advance.

Funny you ask that! Ford and Dodge had the same bolt pattern for years 5 on 5.5 (139.7mm). In '97 Ford went to a 5 on 135mm all the way to '03 then in '04 they went to 6 on 135mm. Two weeks ago I picked up a set of 22" rims for cheap finish was not so good but I was going to powder coat them so it did not matter. Well they were advertised as 5 on 5.5 the guy said they would fit his truck ('01 Ford F150). I told him that they would not fit my ram if the fit his '01 F150. He assured me they were 5 on 5.5. So against my better judgement I bought them got home and they did not fit. Being only 4.7mm difference they are really close but I am not going to force them on and bend the studs. I have been told it is possible but I have read that it puts stress on your studs and can break them off and that could lead to bad results. I personally would not try it.I called the guy in town that drills wheels to fit and even he said that it will not work they would have to be re-drilled to fit. And he has been doing it for 10 years and he has never led me astray before. So back to craigslist for the rims. Hope this helps sorry for the lengthy post.

They're exactly the same. 5.5 " = 139.7 mm.
